March 2010
How wonderful to see the bright green shamrocks above – heralding our moving towards Spring. YAY!! Well, let's hope Mother Nature gets the memo on that, since I am sitting here typing this in the midst of what is hopefully our last major snowstorm. With the approach of Spring comes the homestretch of our Welcome Club year. Where has the time gone? To paraphrase a quote I saw about parenting: "Some days have been long, but my year has been short." On certain days, the task of being Welcome Club President has seemed monumental, and yet, my term is flying by in the blink of an eye. And so, it is time to start lining up our Club's leadership for next year. Please let me know if you are interested in taking a Board position for next year. Also, I would like to remind our Special Interest Group leaders that they are responsible for lining up a replacement to take over their positions, should they decide not to serve next year. Happy March, everyone! Hope
to see you all soon!
Thank you to all members who attended our February
meeting! Our March meeting will be held Thursday 3/18 at noon. Please
RSVP to me by 3/15! I am looking forward to seeing all of you on 3/18!
Spring is a good time to reach out to your friends and neighbors...bring them to the next meeting and they will get a welcome gift! You'll get a gift as well...for each guest you bring! The member who brings the most guests will also get a special gift! Here's another incentive to reach out to your neighbors: over the next two months, just stop by and visit someone new that moved into your neighborhood, take them a copy of the current newsletter, and let me know about it. Your name will be put into a drawing to receive two movie tickets WITH BABYSITTING PROVIDED! If the winner doesn't need babysitting, they will receive four movie tickets!
Thank you Joan Revis and Mary Thomas for the delicious
desserts. A big thanksto Kate Blazick for providing the door prizes
and a dessert.

We are looking forward to
our Night at the Races on February 26th. Let's keep our fingers crossed
that the weather cooperates. Hope to see you there!

Easter Baskets - Once again the Welcome Club will provide Easter Baskets for children at the Mountain Top Food Bank. Please bring your items to the meetings in February and March. We will put the baskets together using the various items. Candy is great, but also consider small toys, crayons, books, etc. We don't need baskets. We have several remaining from last year. Thank you! Thanks to Diane Keating and Pam McGovern for baking for the fire departments in February! Stay tuned for information on the spring highway clean up!
With the holidays behind
us it's time to load our pictures onto the computer and send me some!
I still need pictures from the picnic, the clean up, and the holiday
parties. Those of you in the special interest groups, please snap a
photo or two at your next meeting. Also if you have a special event
or project you want in the newspaper just send me a photo and the names
of all those in it and I will send it to our local papers. As always,
I also welcome hard copies. If you bring them to the meeting, I can
scan them and return them to you. Thanks!!!
If you know anyone that was expecting a newsletter and did not receive one, please let me know and I will be sure to correct my email list. Thanks!
