September 2010
Hello, every one!!! "Welcome" to a new Welcome Club year!!! I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer, and is ready to get back in the swing of things, now that fall is fast approaching. Unfortunately, this won't be my usual fun President's piece this month, as my writer's voice is still not back to its full strength. As many of you know, my father passed away two weeks ago, after six months in home hospice care. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your understanding, love and support during this difficult time for me . I especially appreciate all of the wonderful members of the past and present boards for picking up the "slack" for me on multiple occasions so I could be there for my family. Also, thank you so much for all of the cards and messages. My mailboxes runneth over! Although I will have much more to say about this at the September meeting and in later newsletters, I just want to quickly thank everyone who helped make our participation in the "Go Joe" Event in July the enormous success that it was. Despite it being right in the middle of prime vacation season, so many of you stepped up to help and I greatly appreciate it. Besides being a lot of fun, we also received a lot of great publicity for the Welcome Club. We have an exciting year
ahead of us, and I am looking forward to us all enjoying it together!
As I'm sure you all would expect by now, I have lots more to say, so
stay tuned.
Our first meeting of the new Welcome Club year will be held on Thursday, September 16th at 12:00 noon. It will be a "Meet and Greet" format, and we will also have an update from two of the three charities that we supported with our fundraising last year. Lunch menu is TBA. Please RSVP to Lisa or Kerri by Monday, September 13th. Hope to see you all there.
We look forward to our roles as membership coordinators. Our membership picnic will be held on Saturday, October 2nd. Please mark your calendars to save the date. More information to follow. Sadly, Amy Wagoner is moving out of the area, leaving the Hostess position vacant at this point. We will miss you Amy, and good luck in your new home! We need one or two people to fill this position ASAP. Please, members, if you are usually available on the meeting day, would you consider helping us out with this? It mostly involves just the setting up for the meetings, keeping track of the paper products and supplies, and managing the list of volunteers to supply desserts. Or, if you aren't able to take on the position, please also let us know if you would be willing to help with the set up or clean up on some of the meeting days. We usually have several volunteers to help, so that it is not too burdensome on the Hostess. I know we all enjoy the chance to get out and visit
with each other during our meetings, so please help us keep them going!
Thanks!
Hello everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful summer! Please let me know if any of our members are in need of a card for a birth, get well, death in the family, et al. This is a nice way to let members know that they are always in our thoughts and prayers.
For more information, please
contact the committee members listed above.
Please contact me if you have any club expenses.

Please contact one of us if you're available to help in September. Hats&Mittens - At the October meeting we will collect new hats and mittens for the men, women and children who come to the St. Paul's Food Bank. Highway Clean-up - Date TBA. Sign up at the September meeting.
Please send photos. Those of you in the special
interest groups, please snap a photo or two at your next meeting. Also
if you have a special event or project you want in the newspaper just
send me a photo and the names of all those in it and I will send it
to our local papers. As always, hard copies are welcome. If you bring
them to the meeting, I can scan them and return them to you. Thanks!!!
